Our founder is a home cook herself. Over the past decade she found herself leaning more and more on cooking and simmer sauces when she needed a bit of inspiration cooking dinner. Many of the sauces she reached for again and again were from small-batch, independent sauce makers. Seeing an opportunity to help more home cooks discover the world of cooking and simmer sauces, Sauce Sidekick was founded. The company's hope is that more home cooks find inspiration through sauces, and that the independent sauce makers can reach more potential customers and grow their businesses.

Cooking and simmer sauces are a category of all-in-one, ready to use sauces that serve as a foundation for a variety of recipes and dishes.

These sauces make it easy to try something new for dinner without spending hours cooking. Simply pick your favorite protein and veggies and simmer with the sauce (or if you’re feeling more authentic follow the suggested recipe on the jar).

We aim to source sauces from small-batch, independent sauce makers. We taste test all sauces to ensure they're flavorful and easy to use. We focus on cooking and simmer sauces that have delicious ingredients blended together for maximum flavor.

We make an effort to source milder sauces. This way if you want to add heat you have the option to customize the dish and make it as spicy as you like.

We should also note that WE ARE NOT A HOT SAUCE retailer. Our goal with Sauce Sidekick is to highlight the category of cooking and simmer sauces. We believe these types of sauces are best for helping home cooks discover new cuisines. With cooking and simmer sauces, you can easily transform your go-to ingredients into a meal that is layered and rich in flavors.

For Discovery Boxes ship two times per month, at the start of the month and in the middle of the month. Depending on when you order your box will go out with the next shipments.

For subscription boxes, your first box will ship immediately. All subsequent boxes ship at the start of the following month.

In the future we hope to be able to offer the ability to purchase individual sauces in our boxes directly from our website.

In the meantime, we would be happy to help you find a local retailer who carries the sauces, or refer you to the manufacturer to order more of the sauce from them directly.

Generally, the sauce manufacturers have a suggested use or a recipe printed directly on the label. You can also feel confident trying any of the sauces with a combination of your favorite proteins, vegetables and/or starches.
